We believe that women have the right to live in safety, to be treated with dignity, to make choices and to hope.
Who We Are
Since 1975, The Women's Resource Center has been helping women live better lives. Over the years we have redefined our goals to meet the changing needs of the community. Our primary work is to help the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Norman Shelter for Battered Women, the 24-hour Crisis Line and the Rape Response Team, fill an urgent need. In addition, our short-term crisis counseling and ongoing group counseling helps survivors rebuild their lives. This site provides information on our various services.
Artist Adrienne Lalli Supports Women's Resource Center
Adrienne Lalli, a senior majoring in printmaking at the University of Tulsa, is focusing her senior thesis exhibition on women's issues. The exhibit, titled Pretty Little Things - an exhibition of prints and femmage, is an amalgamation of prints and femmage -- Miriam Schapiro's coined term for feminist collage. Lalli meshes traditional notions of printmaking and a more accessible, crafters aesthetic. The body of work "loosely concerns itself with third-wave feminism, thrift, mother- and daughterhood, anxiety, and craft," Lalli says.
Lalli is donating the profits of one print series, birds in flight, to the Women's Resource Center (WRC) in Norman because she wishes to bring consciousness to women's issues. Lalli's exhibit will be on display at Sonder Music, Dance & Art (225 E Gray) starting Friday, April 10. An opening reception is planned from 7-10 p.m. on April 10 in conjunction with the 2nd Friday Circuit of Art.
